Living Tradition

Pray as though everything depended on God.
Work as though everything depended on you.”

~St. Augustine of Hippo

Spiritual Emphasis

Devoted Prayer Life

The purpose of the monastic life is an intimate union with God here in this life in order to enjoy eternal happiness with Him in the next. Prayer cultivates this union between God and man and is integral to a Brother’s life.

As Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Brothers fully commit themselves to consecrating themselves “To Jesus through Mary” by the method of Saint Louis de Montfort. The consecration is renewed every summer, during 33 days of preparation leading up to the titular feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on August 22nd; yet each day, the Brothers give themselves to Christ and His Mother through the prayer: “I am all Thine, and all that I have is Thine, O most loving Jesus, through Mary, Thy most holy Mother.”

Importance of the Holy Rosary

Every day, the Brothers honor Our Lady by reciting the traditional 15 Mysteries of the Holy Rosary. The morning recitation is prayed as a community in Latin before Mass, and the evening mysteries are prayed as a community during the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Every religious is responsible for privately praying the third set of mysteries, usually during an evening visit to the chapel. The Holy Rosary is essential as it replaces the Hours of the Divine Office in our Marian-centered and very active religious life.

Pillars of Traditional Religious Life

The community stands strong on the traditions of the Faith, which have been passed down in their integrity throughout the centuries. The Traditional Latin Mass holds primacy of place in community life and is the most important aspect of the formation of all religious. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament during the recitation of the Holy Rosary in the evening complements this Eucharistic devotion. Like the dream of St. John Bosco, the community seeks its protection between the two pillars of the Holy Eucharist and the Virgin Mother of God.
