Sawmill & Woodworking
“Labor without stopping; do all the good works you can while you still have the time.” ~St. John of God
Carpentry Skills
Woodworking in St. John Bosco Workshop
The St. John Bosco Woodshop, located at the monastery, plays a crucial role in various construction, finishing work, and numerous other projects that support the community’s needs. The Brothers utilize their carpentry skills extensively to create both functional and aesthetic woodwork.
High school boys can participate in Wood Shop Class, a program that teaches the fundamentals of woodworking and emphasizes the importance of craftsmanship. The hands-on experience fosters a deeper appreciation for the trades.

Monastery Sawmill
Our monastery sawmill cuts logs into lumber. A motorized saw slices the logs lengthwise to create longboards and crosswise to produce shorter pieces according to standard or custom sizes. The sawmill is relatively easy to use, a valuable community resource, and quite impressive to watch in action!
